Body
All incoming e-mail to Texas A&M is scanned for malicious e-mail as well as SPAM.
Some functions are behind the scenes and some will be more noticeable. The current SPAM filter used by A&M is Proofpoint.
This service
- evaluates email to determine how likely it is SPAM. Depending on its score, it can be blocked entirely, quarantined with a note sent on to the recipient to determine if it should be forwarded, or nothing.
- Web links within email are also evaluated. If the message is not blocked, the link will be wrapped within a link to urldefance.proofpoint.com which will evaluate the link a 2nd time and if it passes will allow the link to go through seemlessly. If the link is determined to be malicious, a message will be displayed.
