CyberArk

CyberArk is a program that runs on workstations to provide a controlled means of granting elevated privileges to users on their computer.  We are in the early stages of deploying CyberArk to CEHD computers.  Currently, it is being installed on computers where the user requests elevated (admin) privileges on their computer and it is deemed that such access is appropriate.

Notes

  • We have seen the case where CyberArk interferes with common programs such as Zoom were elevated privileges are not needed for some users.  If you see this occurring contact Technology Services (using the "Services" link above or by calling our office at 979-845-1111).  We will probably need to uninstall CyberArk, make sure your computer is fully updated, and then re-install the latest CyberArk client (if you still want to use it).
  • Google Software Reporter.  CyberArk provides an alert for this software asking if you want to run it in elevated mode.  This is part of Chrome and its purpose is to find incompatibilities with software on your computer and potentially report back some findings to Google. You can accept this and let it run if you like.  However, if you are uncomfortable with this, you can disable this feature in Chrome.  See https://www.techpout.com/what-is-chrome-software-reporter-tool-and-how-to-block-it/ for instructions for disabling this feature.
