The default Screen Lock timeout for computers is 15 minutes. This means that after 15 minutes of inactivity the computer should lock and require login to unlock it. At times a shorter time may be needed to fulfill specific security requirements from a sponsor.
This KB article describes how to change the setting for an individual computer. This taks requires administrative rights (e.g., a Technology Services staff member or CyberArk).
- Open the administrative program gpedit in admin mode. One way to do this is open a command window in administrative mode and run gpedit from the command line.
- Within gpedit, navigate to: User Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Control Panel --> Personalization --> Screen Saver Timeout
- Enable the timeout setting and set the desired number of seconds for the time out.
